You can request the replacement card in person at any of the normal registration centers. If requesting the replacement card in person, you must have a driver’s license or other documentation with a verifiable address.

You may also request a replacement card in writing. Send your request to:

You must be 18 years old on or before the next election date.

Yes, you must register to vote in the county in which you reside.

When you move from one county to another in the State of Tennessee, you must reregister in the new county you currently reside in. 

No, because Washington County does not have property rights voting.

The Tennessee legislature may deny the right to vote to persons convicted of “infamous” crimes.  However, there are procedures in place that you can complete to regain your voting rights.

Even though you do not need your voter registration card to vote, you do need one of the following:  

• A valid Tennessee Driver License with your photo 
• A valid identification card issued by the State of Tennessee, or the United States where authorized by law to issue personal identification; such identification card must contain a photograph of the voter 
• A valid United States passport 

• A valid employee identification card issued by the state of Tennessee or the United States.  Identification card must contain photograph of the voter or,  
• A valid United States military identification card containing photograph of the voter 
• Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo 

This form of photo ID is NOT acceptable

If you are unable to present a photo ID but your name appears on our voter signature list or poll book, you are entitled to vote a provisional ballot.  You will then have two (2) business days after Election Day to present a valid photo ID to your county’s election commission office:

In Tennessee you do not register under a certain party.  However, during a primary election you must chose your ballot corresponding to the party affiliation you wish to vote for.

Requests will be accepted no earlier than 90 days prior to election and no less than 7 days before the election.

You must be a registered voter and a resident of Washington County. You may notify our office by mail or drop off a note to let us know you are interested. Please specify whether you are affiliated with the Republican or Democratic party, provide your current address, and a telephone number. The Republican Election Commissioners will pick their workers, and the Democratic Election Commissioners will pick theirs. Attendance at an election school is required, and you will sign an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of the State of Tennessee and the United States and impartially discharge the duties of the office.

You have to be at least 16 years of age. Of course, you will not have established a voting history showing a party affiliation. Please advise for which party you would like to work. We strongly encourage our young people to be involved!
